Prioritizing systems over rote memorization
We know that all language learning does require memorization. Nonetheless, the Claro Spanish approach prioritizes understanding the patterns, meanings, and feelings native to Spanish to make speaking a more natural and intituive process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I have access to the lessons after the tutoring session?
Yes! All lesson presentations will be uploaded to Google Classroom after the tutoring session takes place. That's also where you can access homework and quizzes.
How do you assess progress? Can this prepare me for the SAT Subject Test/AP Spanish/college placement?
All language assessments will be based on the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) scale, which is the primary framework for foreign language studies in the United States. Along with weekly homework and monthly quizzes, a quarterly progress exam will be given to determine the student's level according to ACTFL. This the same system that AP programs and college placement utilize.
Do you follow a set curriculum or go at the student's pase?
All Claro Spanish teaching is based off an established standard curriculum. However, one of my strengths as a teacher is translating that curriculum to each student based on their learning needs. Based on your feedback, I can move through the lessons slower or faster. I can even reorder the introduction of new concepts based on the student's connection with the material. The benefit of Claro Spanish vs. a traditional school setting is that there is no one-size-fits-all approach.
What if a student is starting from zero vs. having some background with Spanish?
All students will take a placement exam before beginning Claro Spanish lessons, so we can either jump right in where you left off or introduce you to the first concepts.
